A Roll Compactor unit is used for the dry granulation process powdery material into granules. The machine is used for increasing the bulk density, making granules, dust free processing and reducing particle size of Pharmaceutical, Food, Chemical, Nutraceutical etc Industry for improvement of bulk density & granulation of powder.

Process Description:

The Roll Compactor forces fine powders between two counter rotating rollers and presses the material into solid compacts, sheets, so called flakes. Finally, these flakes are then reduced in the size of desired grain sizes. The Powdery materials are fed into the Roll Compactor hopper. The vertical screw feeder feeds the product to the nip area of the compacting rollers. Due to their design the screw has pre-compacting effect on the material.

The Roll Compactor then presses the raw material into flakes. The retention time of the product with I the compaction area is determined by the speed of the Rollers. The necessary compaction pressure is transmitted linearly to the rollers via hydraulic system (optional). It is variable with range. The hydraulic unit keeps the pressure constant on the rollers to achieve uniform flakes.

After compaction, the flakes need to crush/mill into a subsequent Oscillating Granulator or Mill. Incoming flakes are reduced in size as carefully as possible. The selected sieve defines the final granule grain size.
