Lobe Pumps and Hygienic Process Pumps in the Western Cape
Acufill Processing and Packaging Equipment (Pty) Ltd provides Durrex pumping solutions to Western Cape businesses requiring accurate product transfer and efficient in-line processing.
Our range includes lobe pumps for low- and high-viscosity media, homogeneous pump equipment for blending and emulsifying products, and grinding pumps for controlled refining. These solutions can be applied within food production, beverage processing, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and other manufacturing environments.
Positive Displacement Lobe Pump Technology
Unlike pumps that rely primarily on centrifugal force, a lobe pump moves a fixed volume of product through the rotation of synchronised lobes. This makes it a suitable rotary pump for processes where controlled flow and consistent product movement are required.
The rotors operate with defined clearances between one another and the pump body. By avoiding direct internal contact, the design reduces friction and limits unnecessary wear.
Durrex lobe pumps can process a wide viscosity range, including liquids, sauces, creams, pastes and dense industrial media. Selected configurations can also transfer products containing suspended particles.
Rotor type, operating speed and connection style can be chosen according to the product and pipeline. Available connections include clamp, flange and threaded options.
Food and Hygienic Pump Applications
Western Cape manufacturers working with hygienic products can select pumps that support CIP and SIP cleaning methods.
Smooth product-contact surfaces simplify cleaning, while stainless-steel guard covers help protect the drive components during washdown. A mechanical seal oil cup or flushing arrangement can also be selected on relevant models to protect the seal from dry running.
When products must remain warm to flow correctly, a steam-jacketed lobe pump can maintain temperature through circulating hot water or steam.
For dense products such as fillings, concentrates and thick pastes, a rectangular inlet improves the movement of the medium into the pump body.
Flexible Installation Options
Production layouts vary considerably between facilities. Durrex lobe pumps can therefore be supplied in mobile, height-adjustable and compact forms.
A trolley-mounted pump can be moved between different process points. An adjustable base allows the pump height to be matched to an existing pipeline, while a short direct-coupled structure is suitable where floor space is restricted.
Higher-pressure configurations can also include additional sliding bearings in the pump cover to improve shaft support.
Using a Homogeneous Pump for In-Line Mixing
A homogeneous pump allows products to be mixed and processed while moving continuously through the system.
High-speed rotor and stator components generate shear, friction, impact and turbulence. This can improve ingredient distribution and support dispersion, dissolution, refining, homogenisation and emulsification.
Single- and multi-stage DHX models allow the required processing intensity to be selected for each application.
Grinding and Particle Reduction
Durrex grinding pumps use multi-layer toothed discs to process products from coarse to fine. The rotor-to-stator gap determines the degree of particle reduction.
Fixed, hand-adjusted and automatic versions are available, including models that integrate with PLC or DCS control systems.
Selecting Pumps in the Western Cape
Acufill can help Western Cape businesses select suitable lobe pumps, rotary pump equipment, a homogeneous pump or grinding pump. Product viscosity, particle content, temperature, pressure, sanitation and required flow will guide the final recommendation.
